Auditions for the February Alcove Dinner Theater comedy Neil Simon’s “Lost in Yonkers” will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on December 7, Wednesday in the music room at Pleasant Street Elementary School. For “Lost in Yonkers,” director Bruce Jacklin is casting one boy, between the ages 8-14; two women, ages 40-70; and one man between the ages 40-50. The roles of Bella, Uncle Louie and one boy have been precast.
Please note that this story revolves around Arty & Jay, and the 2 boys are LEAD ROLES with a lot of lines and stage time. We will only consider experienced actors for these lead roles. Actors who audition must be able to PLAY THE AGES ABOVE. Please do not audition if you do not fit the above roles or cannot pass for the above ages.
Lost in Yonkers is a dialect play - Grandma Kurnitz speaks in combinationYiddish/NYC dialect; all others speak in NYC/Yonkers dialect. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script (in dialect). Please note - if this is your first time auditioning for the director, be prepared to present a one minute contemporary monologue. Dialect not required for monologue.

Bella, who is middle aged, mentally challenged and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz.. As the play opens, son Eddie deposits his two young boys on the old lady’s doorstep. Their father works as a traveling salesman to pay off debts incurred following the death of his wife.
